COVID has played a part in all athletics, and every coach, player, athletic director and official should be praised for all of the work they did to continue soccer in New Jersey throughout the 2020 season.
Although teams did not play the same State Tournament structure that they normally play, the decision to be a part of something special in the tournaments that were run, was important and perfect for the unusual time everyone is in.
The most important aspect of all, is that the players had a good time, and something like being able to play soccer at the high school level was a great mental stimulation for the boys and girls.
We cannot express the gratitude that we should all have for those that made the past season possible.
Mental Health is an important part of everyone's lives, and with many schools and students, struggling in a full virtual or hybrid educational process, having athletics is a huge release.
With everything up in the air, and vaccines making their way through the country, we know one thing is for sure, the coaches, athletic directors, players and officials are ready to go!
It is now up to us to do what's right outside of the game.
Be safe, follow your COVID regulations, wear masks, social distance, and stay home whenever you can.
Hopefully we can come together in a unified direction to beat this thing and see a normal season this upcoming year!
Good luck, stay active & stay safe!
